Excuse me, Mary Claire Peroutka, eating disorders ARE a joke

Attack against S.T.A.R.V.E ~ 2004. I wish she would take this bullshit out in Maryland somewhere

S.T.A.R.V.E. (Students Together Advocating for Responsible Vomiting and Eating) is a group on Facebook which has decided to break down the barriers that divide “the rest of the world” from people who have made the “legitimate and manageable lifestyle choices,” in layman’s terms: eating disorders. At last count, S.T.A.R.V.E. had 22 members and 18 groupies. (Are "legitimate," "manageable," and "lifestyle choices" words that the working class doesn't understand? MCP = Elitist whore)

Eating disorders affect 25 million American women and 1 million American men. If the American population is estimated at 295 million, that’s 8.8 percent of America (North? South? Central?). Unfortunately for S.T.A.R.V.E., eating disorders are not a “lifestyle choice” — they are a disease, a dangerous one.

Ask me. My junior year of high school, I spent 6 weeks in an eating disorders treatment facility in Tulsa, Okla. I met a girl there who was 5'7 and weighed 68 pounds. (And?)
Was she beautiful? I don’t think anyone who saw her would think so. (whatever)
Was she in the hospital because of a “lifestyle choice”? No. (It was a treatment center in Tulsa. Yes.)
